Goal/Purpose:
To educate physicians and healthcare professionals on the liability and risk issues associated with patient documentation. Case studies, based on actual situations from COPIC files, will illustrate the concerns of different specialists.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Illustrate appropriate patient documentation skills in an effort to reduce the incidence of documentation infractions
- Discuss the risks and benefits of the transition to an electronic medical record (EMR) system
