Goal/Purpose:
The goal of this activity is to educate physicians, PAs, APNs and other healthcare professionals on liability and risk issues when physicians and allied health professionals work collaboratively in patient care.  Case studies, based on actual situations from COPIC files, will illustrate the concerns of different specialists.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Define the regulatory differences in healthcare professionals
  • Recognize case situations that lead to professional risk
  • Assess actions that increase risk
  • Describe specific steps to manage professional relationships and control risk
